A new rock climbing gym and fitness center slated for 41st Avenue was expected to open in summer but its owners have been delayed waiting for City permits.

BKB Queensbridge, a new climbing facility from Brooklyn Boulders, will be located at 23-10 41st Avenue. It will be one of a handful of other Brooklyn Boulders gyms located in Brooklyn, Chicago and Massachusetts.

Brooklyn Boulders co-founder Lance Pinn said that the facility is seeking a permit that will allow the site to hold its full capacity of guests. Without that permit the site can only host 75 people at a time; when it opens, the 25,000 square-foot-space will hold about 300, Pinn said.

Pinn said he hopes for permits to be in order within the next few weeks, after which the gym will host a soft opening and then an “action-packed” grand opening, with skateboard trick contests, live graffiti art, music from several bands throughout the facility and possibly a magic show.

Alongside rock climbing, BKB Queensbridge promises fitness programs and personal training, yoga, cardio equipment, as well as a café and co-working space with Wi-Fi, according to the Brooklyn Boulders website.

Due to the opening delay, the facility has pushed back its presale membership activation. Details are posted online here.
