Jan. 29, 2014 By Michael Florio

A man who was driving while under the influence of heroin crashed his Chrysler Town and Country mini-van into a parked car on 21st Avenue Tuesday, police said.

The police responded to the scene at approximately 10:30 a.m. and discovered that Aaron Tiemann, 36, had struck a parked and unoccupied Dodge Caravan in front of 28-15 21st Ave, police said.

The police also discovered heroine in the middle console of Tiemann’s vehicle.

Tiemann, who was in stable condition, was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital. Originally it was believed that he had suffered a heart attack as part of the collision, but it later turned out that he had a reaction from the narcotics he was taking, police said.

Tiemann is being charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance, DWI, aggravated unlicensed operator and refusal to take a breath test.
