In August and September, Q.E.D. Astoria screened the Republican presidential debates with a twist, bringing in comedians to joke through what it called the “three ring circus.”
Next week, the Democratic candidates will get their turn.
Q.E.D., a performance and education venue located at 27-16 23rd Ave., will host a Democratic debate watch party on Tuesday. Doors open at 8 p.m.
Three comedians will provide commentary and riff on the debate while it is screened.
Frank Conniff of “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” the ‘90s-era TV show that inspired the debate party’s premise, will be joined by Myka Fox and Judy Gold for debate commentary and pre-debate comedy.
“We all want to be politically engaged, and we want to be aware of who the candidates are, and we need to have knowledge on those – but at the same time it’s so early on in the process we might as well have fun while we’re doing it,” Q.E.D. founder Kambri Crews said.
