A local sports bar and music venue combo is for sale in Astoria.
The Shillelagh Tavern, located 47-22 30th Ave., is on the market for $185,000 with 11 years on the lease, according to Metropolis Realty broker Ted Kouris.
The establishment is part sports bar and part live music venue, equipped with a soundproofed backroom and a 40-square-foot stage, according to promotions manager Joey Brown.
Brown said the Shillelagh team decided to convert the bar into a music venue about two years.
“It’s an old man’s Irish bar, but we built it to cater to music,” Brown explained. “It wasn’t planned from the beginning, it just worked out that way.”
“Comedy shows, burlesque, we do everything,” he added.
Brown said that he and his partners decided to put the Shillelagh Tavern on the market as they are in the process of relocating or focusing on other businesses. Brown also owns the sports bar and pub Rocky McBride’s, at 27th Street and 23rd Avenue.

Turned this nice Irish bar into a shithole! Kids outside smoking weed and the door is left open for all to see and hear. Mr. Brown, you should be ashamed of yourself. You have this on 23rd Avenue? Should be shut down!!!
The bar is not sound proofed as many neighbors can hear the music in the street even with the door closed. Always has many young kids who look underaged outside smoking marijuana. This bar needs a change.
