Developers are planning a seven-story residence with about 90 apartments, on an industrial corner of the Kaufman Arts District.
The residence is slated for 37-19 32nd St., currently occupied by a squat brick and concrete building.
According to construction plans, the mixed-use building will include space for retail on the first floor.
Parking for 71 cars is planned along with 45 bike parking spaces. Construction plans also call for a fitness room and first-floor lobby.
Shangri-La Astoria, Inc. filed the plans with the Department of Buildings on Friday and is waiting for approval.

Nice to see that they are re-purposing some of these buildings that in the past just morphed into clubs and bars.
Hopefully the ground floor retail will be something useful for the neighborhood and not another bar or club.
Kaufman Arts District has good proximity to N,Q and R lines so expect to see more of this happening.
You are so right! I would so much prefer a Residential Building next to me then some business establishment that stays open all night!
Too many people iin Astoria. it’s over crowded! the subways, school are bursting at the seams. Parking is a B—h now too. I gotta come home by 5pm now or not find a parking spot on Sundays. Never used to be like that!!!!
