A Sunnyside native is bringing a holistic pet spa to Astoria this fall, with services ranging from hair trims to water massages to mud baths.
Signs recently popped up for Angel’s Care Holistic Pet Spa and Boutique at 29-02 30th Ave., across from PS 17. Renovation work is currently in progress; owner Irene Siderakis said she hopes to open by October.
Siderakis is a former teacher who said she switched careers to accomplish a dream of her late sister, an animal lover who had wanted to open a shop like Angel’s Care.
“She was looking for [pet care] spaces but never got a chance to open,” Siderakis said. “So I said, you know what, I’m going to become a groomer.”
Pet spa services will include mud baths to treat fleas and dry skin, massages with water jets, oil rubs for inflammation and hair cuts and styling. Siderakis said that rather than chemical products she uses coconut oil- or oatmeal-based products, and essential oils, among others.
Angel’s Care will also sell natural dog foods and treats, as well as pet outfits, leashes and collars.
Siderakis described her products as luxury items, but said she has not nailed down prices yet.
“It’s for everybody,” she added. “Whoever likes the idea.”

People treat their pets like their kids now. It wouldn’t suprise me if this did pretty well. I think it’s silly but to each their own.
This place will be closed in 4 months someone tell me when it is and how much rent, looks like a nice storefront.
