Aug. 21, 2015 By Jackie Strawbridge

The Steinway Street Fair will bring vendors outdoors on Sunday for a day of tabling, crafts, games and eats.

The fair will run from noon to 6 p.m., between 28th and 34th Avenues on Steinway Street. The Steinway Astoria Partnership, a Business Improvement District covering Steinway from 28th to 35th Avenues, presents the event.

“We’re looking forward to a lot of our businesses participating,” Marie Torniali, Executive Director of the Partnership, said. “I anticipate there will be some new, craftier vendors [this year].”

Torniali said there will be roughly 200 vendors, about half of whom are local.

Families can enjoy games and activities including a bouncy house, slides and mechanical rides.

Cotton candy, popcorn, sausage and peppers and many other bites will also be on sale.

“I’m looking forward for the street fair to draw more visitors to Steinway Street, to see what’s here, and therefore to come back and shop Steinway,” Torniali said.

The street fair takes place rain or shine.

Agreed. It has so much potential. The rents are too high. There used to be a perfume store on between 31st and broadway that had to relocate because their new lease was 15k a month. That store then became yet another eyeglass place and is now closed.
