Many Queens subway riders can expect slower rush hour commutes over next three weeks.
The E, F, M and R subway lines will run less frequently during the morning and evening hours—in order for the MTA to rebuild sections of the express tracks along the Queens Boulevard routes. The construction is likely to lead to delays and crowded trains.
The MTA began work this morning and it will run until September 4th.
Due to the construction, the E and F trains will run much slower through the work zones, with some running on local tracks—reducing the number of trains that can run on all four lines, an MTA spokeswoman said.
The trains in Manhattan and Brooklyn are not likely to be disrupted by the work, according to the spokeswoman.
The work has been schedule for the last three weeks of summer since this is the period where ridership is low, according to the MTA.

Trust fund kids do not live in Astoria and do not take public transportation. And I really don’t know how poor train service is any demographic’s fault.
This is obviously the fault of those yuppie hipsters that want shore blvd closed and demand decent coffee. At least that’s what I’ve been able to glean from previous comment threads.
MTA is a joke. It’s run so poorly it’s a disgrace. The Yuppie Hipsters and Trust Fund vanilla scum will have to stand and wait longer for the train like the rest of us.
You’re so prejudice (let me guess the response to this is going to be something about Nebraska or gay people). I don’t feel sorry for you at all. The “yuppies” you think live in Astoria are hard working. Most of them work for their money and were forced out of manhattan due to high real estate costs. Nothing to do with a trust fund. It’s ashamed that in such a diverse place you exist.

I don’t know how the R train never is on any of those worst train lists.I would consider a week where I only get 3 delays each way a good week. Almost every day it runs slow and there is some delay for some reason or one won’t come for 35 minutes as 3 M trains whiz by.
