A Ditmars Blvd. candy store will be closing its doors for good at the end of the month.
The Candy Bar, located at 19-31 Ditmars Blvd, opened in 2012 and is closing, in part, due to the mediocre economy, according to owner Randy Klein. She said many residents do not have the disposable income to spend on candy.
Klein also said the store’s location played a role. “We are off the beaten path of Ditmars Blvd,” she said.
The store will be offering 50 percent off its candy from now until July 31st, which will be the Candy Bar’s last day in business, Klein said.
The store sells traditional candy from yester-year, as well as items that are the “sweetest of sweets to the sour of sours,” she said.
It also offers space for children’s parties, where it offers an assortment of candy to balloons and gifts.
Klein will now focus on her other business when the Candy Bar closes. She owns Whiskers Holistic Pet Care, which is located three doors down from The Candy Shop.

I guess the naughty candy items weren’t enough to save the place. How you can have children’s parties and adult items in the same tiny store is beyond me????
