Donato’s closes, new restaurant coming

Donatos

July 3, 2015 By Jackie Strawbridge

Donato’s on Broadway is papered up and may soon transform into a new eatery.

The Italian bistro, located at 34-02 Broadway, came into the neighborhood in 2012.

Owner Pablo Calle has also run a restaurant of the same name in Woodside for almost two decades. He said he sold the Astoria establishment last month in order to focus on the original.

At the moment, Calle said, he has no plans to relocate or open a new Donato’s.

Alex Kyreyev said his wife recently purchased the Broadway business with a group of partners and that they plan to open a new restaurant there in about two months.

He declined to provide further details as plans are still in flux.
