Man shot and killed at Astoria Houses, NYPD say

A man was shot and killed near his home at the Astoria Houses yesterday, according to police.

Sean Overton, 42, was found outside 2-10 Astoria Blvd shortly after 5 p.m. after being shot in the neck and torso. He was conscious when police arrived on the scene although he later died at Mount Sinai Queens.

The police have not made an arrest and has the NYPD has not released a description of the suspect. However, an NYPD spokesman did say the suspect and the victim knew each other.

The investigation is still on going and police are asking anyone with any information to come forward and call 1-800-577-TIPS.

This is the third homicide in Astoria so far this year, compared to two for all of 2014.

Let us all examine what changes have been brought into the community by those in charge
