One of the two owners of Astoria Bier & Cheese is opening a similar gourmet store in Manhattan.

The Manhattan spinoff is called Milk & Hops and is being run by Yang Gao, co-owner of Astoria Bier & Cheese. The new store is located on Broadway between 9th and 10th Street and will offer a similar menu as the Astoria locations.

Milk & Hops, however, will be more beer-focused than its two Astoria sisters.

“We will offer an extensive mind-blowing craft beer/cider bottle and growler program for take away,” Milk & Hops food curator Mike Fisher told Gothamist. The venue will consist of about 10 taps, which will come from local breweries that Astoria Bier & Cheese has existing relationships with. Pints can be consumed onsite.

The venue will also have a cooler filled with cheeses, salami, crackers, pickles, chocolate, and various specialty items—for customers on the go.

The Manhattan menu will include the popular “The Works” platter, consisting of a selection of five cheeses plus four different meats served with mustard, cornichons and toasted bread. Sandwiches will run from the super cheesy to more meat-oriented.

Astoria Bier, which is owned by Rick White and Gao, opened its first store at 34-14 Broadway in September 2012. It’s success led it to open a second store at 35-11 Ditmars Blvd last year.
