Q.E.D.

The Astoria Bookshop and Q.E.D. are teaming up to bring more books and literary events to the neighborhood.
The book store has set up a pop-up shop at QED, a performance space located at 27-16 23rd Avenue, that is expected to operate there long term.
The Astoria book store is offering literature at the pop-up shop that broadly covers three categories: books written by locals and comedians; non-fiction works about Queens, containing walking guides and a variety of books from The Greater Astoria Historical Society; and creative books, to help writers perfect their craft.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with Q.E.D. in creating a new space for people to find great books right here in Astoria,” said Lexi Beach, owner of The Astoria Bookshop.
The Astoria Bookshop, which is located at 31-29 31st Street, opened in 2013 and touts itself as the only general interest bookstore in Western Queens.
The pop up shop will be at Q.E.D. for at least a year, although an end date has not been set.
Beach said that the shop will be able to utilize the stage at Q.E.D. by hosting authors. She said she plans on scheduling readings, although these plans remain tentative.
Q.E.D., which opened last fall, has hosted dozens of authors, including Mike Sacks, the editor of Vanity Fair; Ophiria Eisenberg, the author of Screw Everyone; and Baratunde Thurston, the author of How to be Black.
“I’m excited to provide an avenue to introduce [different] books to readers,” said Kambri Crews.
Prior to opening Q.E.D., Crews spent two years on tour promoting a book she had penned called “Burn Down the Ground: A Memoir,” which is about being raised by deaf parents.
