Wendy’s on Steinway Street closes, had been there 20 years

The Wendy’s located on Steinway Street closed last week after being in operation for more than 20 years, according to the property manager.

The lease at the 30-91 Steinway Street establishment had come to an end and the fast-food joint elected not to renew.

One employee of Cohen’s Fashion Optical, which is located two doors down from Wendy’s, said she was surprised to see it close.

“They were functioning fine as far as I know,” the employee said.

A sign currently hangs in Wendy’s window, encouraging customers to visit the nearest location. Those Wendy’s are located at 69-02 Northern Blvd and in Sunnyside at 44-16 Queens Blvd.

The property manager did not know what business will be moving into the space.
