A popular Astoria bagel shop will be opening a second location in the neighborhood.

New York City Bagel & Coffee House, which is located at 29-08 23rd Avenue, announced via social media that it will be opening a second shop at 40-05 Broadway.

The menu at the Broadway location will be the same as the original store. It will feature hand-rolled bagels and a variety of cream cheeses made in-house.

“All of our bagels will be baked and rolled at each location,” Loukas said, adding that the menu—as well as the coffee– will be the same at both stores.

Loukas, who co-owns the bagel shop with Michael Lagudis, said they expect the Broadway eatery to be open by early spring–hopefully around March 25. That day marks the two-year anniversary since they opened the 23rd Avenue location.

Loukas, who has lived in Astoria his entire life, said that Broadway is in need of a bagel shop like theirs.

“I feel like Broadway needs this look and feel,” Loukas said. He said New York City Bagel will provide nearby residents with “a trendy spot for people to hang out and relax on their laptops.”

“You will feel like you are home here,” he added. “It will have a nice comfortable atmosphere, with a great product and staff.”

The Broadway location will be able to seat about 35 people.

Loukas said that he and his partner have built a strong connection with the community at their 23rd Ave location and believes the same thing can happen on Broadway.
