Dec. 30, 2014 Staff Report

Astoria residents are scheduled to meet at the 114th Precinct tonight to honor the two police officers that were tragically killed in Brooklyn nearly two weeks ago.

The precinct will hold a candlelight vigil tonight at 7 pm at the station house, which is located at 34-16 Astoria Blvd South.

Several candlelight vigils have been held at precincts across the city since their death. Last week, Long Island City residents converged at the 108th Precinct to pay their respects.

Police Officers Rafael Ramos, 40, and Wenjian Liu, 32, were shot and killed while sitting in their patrol car in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Saturday, Dec. 13.

I wish I could be there tonight but I’m in Miami. Born and raised in Astoria from 1950-1972. Still visit from time to time. Going again in Feb. Will be there in spirit.
