Greenbay Marketplace to open second store with focus on vitamins and beauty products

Dec. 16, 2014 By Michael Florio

Greenbay Marketplace, the popular Broadway grocery store that offers organic food products, is in expansion mode.

The grocery store is opening a second location across the street from its 32-06 Broadway location, which will sell vitamins, supplements and beauty products.

The new store will be called Greenbay Essentials and is expected to open in about three months. Greenbay’s current shoppers will now have to buy their vitamins and beauty supplies at the new 32-19 Broadway location.

Currently, Greenbay Marketplace has sections dedicated to vitamins and supplements. However, the store has run out of room and these products will only be available at the new store, said Al Ozbek, the store manager.

The new location will have a large selection of organic vitamins, all natural vitamins and supplements. It will sell items such as organic shampoo and soap.

There will also be sandwiches, including vegan and gluten-free options, as well as an organic juice bar, Ozbek said. There will be 20 seats in the backyard for customers to eat.

However, Greenbay Marketplace will continue to offer fruits and vegetables, organic groceries, a full line of organic and conventional dairy products, homemade sausages, cheeses from all over the world, frozen organic and gluten free meals, such as pizza and burgers, and ice cream.

Greenbay Marketplace will also continue to offer its buffet, which consists of items such as chicken francese, fresh roast turkey, meatloaf, salads, soup and pasta.

The expansion comes at a time when more health-oriented stores are opening in the neighborhood. For instance, Mini Star Gourmet, Healthy Me and Jujube Tree Asian Vegan Cuisine all on 30th Ave are all in the process of opening.
