The movement toward clean living continues—as several stores and restaurants are opening with vegans and health-conscious residents in mind.

Jujube Tree Asian Vegan Cuisine, which obviously sells vegan food, is opening at 35-02 30th Ave., taking over the space that was occupied by Chicken Shack.

Chicken Shack moved to 36-19 Broadway this summer.

Jujube Tree is expected to open later this month according to construction workers.

Meanwhile, just two blocks away, an organic juice lab called Healthy Me is opening at 30-08 37th Street. The store’s awning is already up and there is a sign in the window that reads: “Coming Soon!!!”

These establishments are opening at a time when more organic/health food stores are popping up in Astoria. For instance, Mini Star Gourmet, which is about to open just two blocks away from Healthy Me, will be selling organic and vegan food options.
