Two SUVs smashed into one another at a Ditmars intersection this morning, sending six people to hospital including three children, according to the FDNY.

The accident occurred just before 9 am, at the intersection of 21st Avenue and 37th Street, according to a FDNY spokesperson.

Those injured sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Elmhurst hospital.

The accident occurred just outside IS 141.

The NYPD had no information on the incident.

Seriously need to look into how people are driving in Astoria. People go way to fast, beeping all over the place. There needs to be stiffer penalties. I’ve yet to see any tickets being given out.

Twenty individuals were indicted and variously charged in a wide-ranging scheme to steal cars in Queens, throughout New York City and its suburbs, following a three-year investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the New York State Police dubbed “Operation Hellcat,” into the criminal enterprise based in Queens.

Some of the vehicles were stolen from owners’ driveways, some with the keys or key fobs inside. The stolen vehicles were often sold through advertisements on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The defendants are charged in nine separate indictments for a total of 373 counts, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday.
