Excavation work is being done at the development site of a future 7-story residential building at 30-78 29th St. in Astoria. The estimated completion of the building is set for the winter of 2025.

Demolition work was completed at the site, which was previously occupied by a single home, in the first half of 2024. Now, the area is blocked off by wooden fencing on the sidewalk, with the excavation work ongoing across the parcel. This work is expected to continue for the next few months. Those working on the property hope to begin foundation work just before the end of the year.

The completed structure will be 70 feet tall and yield 18,611 square feet of residential space. There will be 27 rental units there, averaging 689 square feet. The development will also have a cellar level, a 36-foot-long rear yard, and 14 open parking spaces.

This property is located within close proximity to the 30th Avenue subway station, which services the N and W trains.

The building was designed by James Cleary Architecture. Desmond Neill of Silverline Construction Management is listed as the owner of the property.
