Cops seek man who snatched gold jewelry from Astoria store

June 3, 2013 By Christian Murray

Astoria, Queens: A man pretended to be a customer of an Astoria jewelry store on Saturday so he could get his hands on two pieces of gold jewelry—before taking off with them, according to police.

The police said the suspect entered a Zales at 31-07 Steinway St. in Astoria around 7 p.m. and asked to look at gold jewelry, only to flee with the items once the salesperson handed them over.

The suspect is described is a man in his 20s, seen wearing black work boots, and a dark green waist length jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
