Donovan Richards to Hold Town Hall Event in Astoria Wednesday, First of a Series Across Borough

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards is hosting a series of town hall meetings throughout the borough with the first one scheduled to take place in Astoria on Wednesday.

The meeting this Wednesday is targeted for residents who live in western Queens, where issues pertaining to Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst and Corona will be addressed.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens, located at 21-12 30th Rd., and will feature representatives from various city agencies including the NYPD, NYCHA and the Dept. of Sanitation. The town hall starts at 6:30 p.m.

Richards—along with other elected officials and representatives from Community Board 1, 2, 3, and 4—will be in attendance.

The Sept. 22 town hall is co-sponsored by U.S. Representatives Carolyn Maloney and Grace Meng, State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Assembly Members Jeffrion Aubry, Brian Barnwell, Catalina Cruz, Jessica González-Rojas and Catherine Nolan. Council Members Daniel Dromm and Jimmy Van Bramer are also sponsors, along with Community Boards 1, 2, 3 and 4.

All attendees must present proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or the results of a recent negative COVID-19 test. Masks are to be worn at all times during the event.

Those who cannot attend the town hall in person can watch a live broadcast on QPTV on Spectrum channel 1997; RCN channel 85, or Verizon channel 37. The town hall will also be livestreamed at www.QPTV.org starting at 6:30 p.m.

Richards will hold additional regional town halls next month in Southeast, Northeast, and Southwest Queens.
