Man Punches 65-Year-Old Woman in Random Assault in Astoria: NYPD

Police said they are looking for a man who punched a 65-year-old woman in Astoria last week in an apparent random assault.

The woman was near the corner of 32nd Street and 30th Avenue on the evening of Friday, May 21 when she was attacked. The man allegedly approached her at around 9:40 p.m. and punched her in the chest, police said.

Emergency responders took the victim to Mount Sinai Queens in Astoria to be treated for pain and bruising.

Her attacker was described as black and was wearing a black leather jacket with leather studs. The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect walking near a fruit market.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) or submit tips through the CrimeStoppers website.

Surveillance photos released of gunman sought in murder of East Elmhurst woman: NYPD

The NYPD on Tuesday released surveillance images of the suspected gunman who allegedly shot a young woman to death inside her East Elmhurst home on the night of Friday, Sept. 12.

Police from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress at 26-30 96th St. at 9:20 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found 21-year-old Dashanna Donovan with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.
