A Queens high school will serve as a “NYC Vaccine Hub” where health care workers can get vaccinated for the coronavirus on Sunday.

Health care workers who have not already received the COVID-19 vaccine through their employer can get their first dose of the vaccine at Hillcrest High School on Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, the vaccination site is not open to the general public who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine.

The school, located at 160-05 Highland Ave. in Jamaica Hills, is one of three sites across the city to be converted into a vaccine hub on Sunday. The other schools are Bushwick Educational Campus in Brooklyn and South Bronx Educational Campus in the Bronx.

Together, staff at the three vaccine hubs will be able to vaccinate thousands of New Yorkers, New York City Health Commissioner Dave Chokshi said Monday. Other sites and dates are expected to be added in the near future.

Health Department staff, other city employees and members of the medical reserve corps will operate the facilities and administer the vaccinations.

“We are ready to roll up our sleeves so that New Yorkers can roll up theirs for the shot,” Chokshi said.

Healthcare workers who are eligible for the vaccine include outpatient and ambulatory providers, primary care providers, phlebotomists, physical and occupational therapists, and specialty clinic staff — such as dialysis center employees.

Workers at COVID-19 testing sites, nursing home residents and staff, EMS personnel, medical examiners and coroners, funeral workers, urgent care providers, dental office staff and workers administering the vaccine are also eligible.

Those eligible for the vaccine will soon be able to make a vaccination appointment at Hillcrest High School online.
