Mom & Pops are being pushed out for these chains, which we really don’t need in Astoria. The things that make Astoria one of the great neighborhoods is slowly being eroded by mass commercialization. The next thing to go is the Key Food supermarket to be replaced by Target. I have nothing against Target but no one asked for one. The Ditmars Blvd. area used to be filled with lots of small shops that gave us a variety to choose from and healthy competition.
Welcome to the neighborhood.
Down with chains! Let the mom and pop eateries survive!
Hooray, more global fast food chains!
