96-Year-Old Woman and Son Stabbed to Death in Astoria Home in Apparent Murder-Suicide

The police found a 96-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man both dead in an Astoria house this morning with multiple stab wounds to the body.

Police were called out to 25-35 14th Place at around 8 a.m. where they discovered the pair both with stab wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police sources believe that it was a murder-suicide– involving a mother and her son who both lived at the address. The Medical Examiner will ultimately determine the cause of death.

Their identities have not yet been released, pending family notification.

Unfortunately, the mental illness situation will only get worse. I worry so much about the elderly and children in Astoria. There are so many elderly in Astoria and so many children living in the projects.
