Manhattan-Based Comic Book Store to Open Astoria Outlet Location this Weekend

32-11 41st. Street (Midtown Comics)

March 4, 2020 By Allie Griffin

A Manhattan-based comic book store is opening an outlet in Astoria this weekend.

Midtown Comics, which first opened its doors in 1997, will open its first outer borough location at 32-11 41st St. on Saturday, March 7.

The outlet store will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays.

The shop owners decided to open an Astoria location on the weekends after hosting several successful weekend warehouse sales at their Long Island City warehouse. While the warehouse sales were pop-up events, the Astoria outlet is a permanent storefront.

The Astoria store will offer comic book fans tons of back issues, high-end sought-after favorites, store exclusives and 99 cent specials that can be bought in bulk or as single issues.

In addition to comic books, the outlet will sell graphic novels, manga, collectibles, action figures, Gundam and more.

Midtown Comics Outlet has vintage comic books dating back to 1932 and rare first editions of many graphic novels.

The comic book store has three locations in Manhattan and an extensive online store. Comics fans can order new releases online to pick up in any of the stores, including the new Astoria location.

It’s cool, Astoria could use a decent comic store but I’d rather this be small business owned instead of the monolithic Walmart of comic stores. Better yet, I wish it was an Anyone Comics branch. A guy can dream…

You don’t have to dream; you can go to Royal Collectibles a few blocks over on Broadway.

It is a small business. Its also local as the founders are all from astoria. Your perception is not reality.
