HAVE AN EXTRA ROOM TO SPARE? WANT TO HOST INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS? Joining our Homestay Host Program is a great source of secondary income, as well as a very enriching cultural experience!

St Giles is a leading English language school based in  Midtown Manhattan (next to the Empire State).  We welcome students (age 14+) who come to NYC to learn English and to experience American Culture.

We are currently looking for warm and friendly hosts in Queens within a 45 -60 minute commute to 34th Street / Herald Square.

Requirements:

– A private furnished bedroom with a real bed, desk and chair.

– Ability to provide a homely environment for students

– Willingness to submit to a background check

– Willingness to provide home cooked meals or allow the student to use the kitchen

* please no apartment/room rentals. We require for you to be in the home to be a HOST to our student and provide their home away from home.

WE ARE ESPECIALLY LOOKING FOR HOSTS WITH DOUBLE ROOMS (TWO TWIN BEDS) AND/OR ENSUITE/PRIVATE BATHROOMS.

Astoria doctor sentenced to more than two decades in prison for rape and sexual abuse: DA

An Astoria doctor was sentenced to 24 years in prison on Thursday in Queens Supreme Court for raping unconscious acquaintances and sexually abusing hospital patients.

Dr. Zhi Alan Cheng, 35, of Broadway, pleaded guilty on June 30 to four counts of rape in the first degree and three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree in satisfaction of the consolidated indictments against him. He additionally entered an Alford plea to one count of sexual abuse. The defendant — a former gastroenterologist at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital — recorded the abuse of his unconscious victims with his cell phone in both his Astoria apartment and at the hospital.
