Man Chokes Woman and Steals Purse at 46th Street Station: NYPD

Suspect (NYPD)

Sept. 6, 2019 By Shane O’Brien

Police are looking for a man who allegedly choked a 64-year-old woman and then stole her purse at the 46th Street subway station in Astoria earlier this week.

The robbery took place at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 2 on the northbound R platform of the 46th Street station, according to the police.

The victim was standing on the platform alone when she was approached from behind by the suspect and choked to the ground. When she was on the ground, the man stole her purse and fled the station in an unknown direction.

The suspect was observed to be a black man wearing glasses. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue shorts and red sneakers.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @ NYPDTips. All calls are strictly confidential.

There’s a lot of ghetto trash entering this station from the 48th street entrance because it’s close to the projects. The 46th street entrance has normal families and working class people. The two meet in the middle and this is what you get.

The good news is that the cops will catch him by Sunday.

sorry…you obviously haven’t dealt with 114 precinct. They couldn’t find him if they tripped over him. Astoria has gone to shit. 46st station has animals roaming around and multiple calls to transit and 114 are useless as they dont do anything

We’ve called the police more than a dozen times for a guy harrassing me and my husband and others on numerous occasions. They said they would put police there. No change since 2014. The 48th street side of that subway stop is even worse because there’s no agent there to help if you need it. I hope law enforcement finally steps things up around here.

Saving this photo: Looks like a new guy that was hanging around MacDonald Park in Forest Hills Austin Street area on Weds. or Thurs. night trying to pick up a homeless girl.

The good news is that the cops will catch him by Sunday. The bad news is that Deblasio’s soft on crime policies will have him out my Monday.

That’s correct, the new punishment for choking and stealing is now a weekend in jail. That or you’re really gullible…
