Police are looking for a man who broke into an Astoria apartment and stole $13,000 worth of valuables last week.
The burglary took place in the vicinity of Hoyt Avenue South and 27th Street at around 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, according to the NYPD.
Police said that a 27-year-old woman returned home at 7:30 p.m. on the same day and found that $13,000 worth of jewelry was missing.
Subsequent investigations found that a man had broken into the apartment through a secure front door. Once inside, he took the jewelry and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The man was caught by a surveillance camera snooping around the apartment.
Police describe him as a Hispanic male between 20 and 30 years of age. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, blue shirt and black shirts. He wore a mask to partially cover his face.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @ NYPDTips. All calls are strictly confidential.

Is this the same guy, or do all burglars on 27th street support the Yankees?
If you have 13 thousand dollars worth of jewelry in your apartment NOT under lock and key, this is your own fault.
It was under lock and key. It was in her locked apartment. Do not blame her.
This is just a comment from an ignorant human…go to school and learn something
A man is walking around on an August morning in Astoria with a ski mask or bandana around his face and no resident, pedestrian or police officer driving around bothers to see what he is up to. I guess we have all been taught to react slowly and pretend we do not see the obvious out of fear that we might be characterized as prejudice and get fired from our jobs. Its laughable.
Why would you think he wore a mask on the street? He wore it in the apartment when no one was home. Holy crap are you dense!!!!
True. Most surveillance video is outside and in hallways. Perhaps he only wore the mask inside the apartment thinking that someone might be home and see his identity. This makes the situation and him even more dangerous.
check the projects
Check the trailer parks
We did but all we found was your mother along with your hurt feelings.
Hispanic.. I don’t think so, he looks black to me. Regardless he’s a thief and should be found and arrested.
