Suspect (NYPD) and Hot Bagel, at 25-08 31st St. (Google)

The police are looking for a man who smashed his way into an Astoria bagel shop during the early hours Saturday morning and took $5,000 cash.
The suspect allegedly broke the front glass window of Hot Bagel, located at 25-08 31st St., at about 3:25 a.m. and once inside swiped cash and an undetermined amount of cigarette packs. He then fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt, shorts and sneakers.

We need more police on streets
This is crazy if there is so much going on in Astoria why leave money in your register and you hat much . Leave $5.00 bucks
Astoria has turned into a well known area for criminals. What would of surprised most of us living here years ago no longer does. I think many of us are now desensitized to it all and those that are not have moved away. Every week there is something posted on line or shown on tv news stations about a crime or assault. There was another news story this morning about two men who stole a car in another borough and made a stop in Astoria the other night to continue there crime spree. They tried to rob some woman on Broadway.

I love how they inflated the cash amount, there is no way that there would be $5000 in a closed bagel store !!!

It does sound suspicious. Most businesses deposit their cash at the end of the night.
Sam – a lot of store owners keep this cash to pay for off the book workers & etc. They also do it to not pay taxes on sales. It sounds like someone knew where the stash was kept.
