A new Mediterranean restaurant is about to open in Ditmars—by the owners of Avenue Café on 30th Avenue.
Tru, located at 35-19 Ditmars Blvd, will be opening in about three weeks featuring Mediterranean cuisine, said co-owner Michael Miltiadou.
Miltiadou, who said he is still working on the menu, did not want to provide too many details as to what he will be offering. However, he said the menu will be very different than other restaurants in the Ditmars area.
“As far as I know, there are no restaurants that offer Mediterranean cuisine in the area,” Miltiadou said. “Ditmars needs a place like this.”
Miltiadou, who also co-owns Avenue Café at 35-27 30th Ave, said he had been looking to open a location in the bustling Ditmars area for about a year. He said it took time to find the right-sized space on a well-trafficked street.
The restaurant will be open from 7 am until the early hours each day. Inside it will be seat up to 75 diners, and will have an outdoor café, featuring 26 tables and roughly 52 chairs.
Miltiadou said the restaurant will act as a café in the morning, serving coffee and breakfast items.
Miltiadou said that there is a grand opening event in the works, but further details will be announced late next week on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Mediterranean cuisine is a different way of saying Greek food. There is over 1,00 Greek places in Astoria not mention in the Ditmars area. What we need for once is a Spanish place.
this is great news, ditmars blvd definitly needs a great place to hang out, enjoy drinks, good food and friends! Good for us!
