Two people are dead and a third is seriously wounded after a shooting at an Astoria home this morning.

Police responded to a 911 call about gunshots inside an apartment on the second floor of 19-54 77th St. at 6:52 a.m.

About two minutes later, the police received a 911 call from a 31-year-old woman, who said that she was inside the apartment.

The woman told the operator, “I’ve been shot by my boyfriend, send the police.”

The woman stopped speaking but did not hang up the phone, and the operator could hear “loud noises in the background,” police said.

Police arrived at the apartment and found that the door was locked. Inside, they could hear up to 10 gunshots. The police called for backup and secured the perimeter of the apartment,

Once inside, police found the 31-year-old woman with at least one gunshot wound to her head, a 47-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head, and a 43-year-old man who had been shot in the shoulder and at least twice in the back.

The woman and the 47-year-old man were pronounced dead on the scene. The 43-year-old man was rushed to an area hospital, where he is now surgery but is in stable condition.

A gun was found near the body of the 47-year-old man, police say.

Police say that the wounded 43-year-old man is a Yonkers police officer. He is believed to be the current boyfriend of the female victim.

The police had responded to a 911 call about a keyed car involving the three individuals on Monday.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released, pending family notification.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Just like that terrible slaying over a discarded mattress in Texas. It’s always the stupid things that take lives. Rest in peace the souls of the departed.
