Five Story Apartment Complex To Go Up on St. Andrews Church Site

Aug. 1, 2018 By Christian Murray

Plans have been filed for the construction of a five-story apartment building on an Astoria site that currently houses a church.

The Episcopal Diocese of Long Island has filed plans to build 21 units at 46-09 31st Ave. where St. Andrews Church is located.  Demolition permits have not been filed and a spokeswoman for the diocese would not comment as to whether the church would be torn down.

The building will consist of a ground floor community room and lobby; 6 units per floor on floors two through four; and three units on the top floor.

The episcopal church no longer uses the space. CityLight Church, a non denomination group, has been operating out of the location in recent years.

Very sad…but now that there are no Episcopalians attending church, it’s hard to justify keeping it too.

The Episcopal “Church” has fallen so far into apostasy that they can no longer be considered Christian. Every Episcopal “Church” building will be empty within a generation. The last Episcopalian has already been born.

Whatever…the congregation just moved out of the area. That’s how it goes. And if any remained, clearly they aren’t religious.

Like it or not, it’s the Episcopal Church’s land, and they have already given up on the church. It’s theirs to do with what they will. A five story building is not the end of the world.

I’m not sure why this is bad mojo, not smart , not cool because you don’t actually provide any reasons.

It’s really easy for people that already have a place to live to complain about more housing going up.

You seriously implying that this building will house people who don’t already have a place to live?
