(Update) April 23, 2018 Staff Report
A 12-year-old Astoria girl who went missing Thursday has returned home safely, police said.
Shelsy Zapata, 12, went missing from her 23-32 31st Road apartment on Thursday, April 19. Two days later, April 21, she arrived home uninjured, police said.
Further details were not released.

People seem to be missing the point about kids nowadays. They are growing up faster than ever before. I see 12-14 year olds out after 10pm all the time, and of course it’s due to a lack of proper parenting. It’s these kids that get wrapped up into gangs, sex and violence, and it’s only getting worse.

People like you are ridiculous. Yes, I would not let my 12 year old leave at 10pm. But every single thing a kids does can’t be blamed on “NOT PARENTING”.

What is a 12 year old going out at 10:00pm., where are the parents.
At this point what does that even matter?! She’s missing. Looks like you would like to place blame but that wont help the situation. Prayers and well wishes needed for the family not judgement!

Way to miss the point. What good does passing judgment do in this situation? We don’t know the circumstances that led to the disappearance. All that is important is finding the missing person, not immediately blaming her parents without any knowledge of the circumstances. Refocus.
The Biblical “woman” was married off at 12 and had kids.
So, if you follow one of the religions that believes in the Bible, then surely a 12 year old can leave her home at 10:00pm
