The 45th annual St. Antonio Abate Street Festival on Ditmars Blvd kicked off last night.
St. Antonio Abate Fraternal Society of Castrofilippo, a nonprofit organization connected with the St. Francis of Assisi Church, has been hosting the event since 1970, according to a spokesman for the organization.
The festival runs along Ditmars Blvd from 35th Street to 38th Street. The festival will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4pm-11pm each day.
The festival features rides, games, and a variety of food stands for those in attendance.
On Sunday, there will also be a ceremonial mass at the St. Francis of Assisi Church at 4:30 p.m, which will be followed by a procession through the streets of Astoria, said the spokesman.
