A Chinese restaurant located at the Broadway Shopping Center has been temporarily shut down by the Health Dept. after an inspection revealed several sanitary violations at the locale.
Eastern Chinese Restaurant, located at 21-05 Broadway., closed after a Dec. 13 inspection found five sanitary violations, two of which were classified as “critical”.
The critical violations listed include evidence of rats present in the facility, and live roaches present in the facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
Other violations include not having a vermin proof facility; thawing procedures deemed improper; and its food surface not being properly maintained.

Hahahaha good riddance maaaaaaaaaaaAAaN. I. Chinese. I no like it either maAAAAAAN!!!!
Fatima’s is the ONLY place for good Chinese in Astoria. No question!
Always very fresh. During lunchtime the chefs come out and prep the vegetables in the main dining room, right front of you, so you know its clean and nothing is pre-packaged or reheated. Never once got sick from any of their food. 10/10
Nasty. Went 2 3 times. I think the chicken was cat and the beef dog food. Fatima’s Halal Chinese on Broadway way better!!
This place has fell off the last decade and this incident doesn’t surprise me. Go to Fatima’s further up BroadwAy. Food is fresh, delicious and Halal. I love Fatima’s!!!!!!!
About this restaurant, good that he’s been closed down.
He deserves to be.
question: Isn’t the scale in a deli supposed to be where it is visible to the customer? The deli I go to on 30th avenue and 36 street has it covered by boxes of cookies and breads and other stuff.
No one can see the scale, ever.
I had food poisoning from here.
Their food was never that good anyway. I never saw many customers in there at any given time.
