A new supermarket is going to open on Steinway Street where Met Fresh was once located.
Food Universe, part of the Key Food Store Co-op, will open at 34–14 Steinway St in early February, according to a store manager. The store will be independently owned.
Key Food franchisees operate under a variety of names such as The Food Emporium, Food Dynasty, SuperFresh and Key Food Fresh.
Four supermarkets in Astoria are members of the Key Food cooperative. The cooperative was founded in 1937.
Met Fresh closed this summer.

Can you order golden peak ice tea,they have green tea,sweet tea and more, I usually buy 6 bottles a week
This is why Trader joe’s isn’t in Astoria. I will not support The Food Emporium, Food Dynasty, SuperFresh and Key Food Fresh for many reasons 1) high prices 2) quality of food 3) the owners.
I feel like MET closed 3-4 weeks ago, not in the summer
It is not new, maybe they changed the name.
