NYPD: Man breaks into Astoria apartment buildings via unlocked windows, takes jewelry, electronics

The police are looking for a man who allegedly broke into two apartment buildings in Astoria earlier this month and fled with about $3,000 worth of items.

The first incident took place at around 8:30 am on Thursday, Oct. 12, when the suspect broke into apartment via an unlocked window in the vicinity of 33rd Avenue and 29th Street and took $900 in jewelry, $600 worth of luxury handbags and an Amazon kindle, police said.

Four days later, at 10:10 am on Tuesday, Oct. 17, the suspect allegedly struck again when he gained entry to an apartment via an unlocked window near 28th Avenue and 34th Street and took $1,000 worth of electronics, according to police.

The suspect is described as white, approximately 175 lbs., 5’8″ tall, last seen wearing black boots, a black coat and a black hat.
