UA Kaufman Astoria to be offering dollar tickets on family movies at select times this summer

Tickets for a number of family movies at UA Kaufman Astoria will just cost a buck on certain days this summer.

From July to August, UA Kaufman Astoria Stadium 14, located at 35-30 38th St., is participating in Regal Cinemas’ Summer Movie Express, where movie goers can purchase tickets for just a buck.

The Astoria theater will show 18 flicks for $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a portion of the proceeds going to the Will Rogers Institute. All movies will play at 10 a.m.

According to its website, “the organization promotes and funds medical research of cardiopulmonary diseases, purchasing neonatal ventilator equipment for medical facilities across the country.”

The Summer Movie Express begins July 4 and July 5 with screenings of Kung Fu Panda 3 and Ice Age: Collision Course

On the following Tuesday and Wednesday, it will screen Trolls and  Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Other movies include Rio 2, The Secret Life of Pets, Kubo and the Two Strings, Happy Feet Two, The Spongebob Movie and more.

It concludes Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 with screenings of Storks and The Lego Batman Movie.

A Brooklyn man was indicted by a Queens grand jury on charges of manslaughter, drunk driving and other crimes for a fatal collision in Astoria that killed his long-time girlfriend and mother of their young child in February.

Ray Perez, 27, of Caton Avenue in Flatbush, was arraigned Thursday in Queens Supreme Court on a 13-count indictment charging him with vehicular manslaughter for allegedly speeding through a stop sign in Astoria, colliding with another vehicle and slamming into two parked cars, and then driving nearly four miles away to a street in Maspeth before seeking help for his 29-year-old girlfriend Bridget Enriquez, who later succumbed to her injuries.
