Police release new video of suspect believed to be responsible for homophobic graffiti

June 1, 2017 By Christian Murray

The police have released another video of the man believed to be the vandal responsible for a rash of homophobic graffiti that has been scrawled on several buildings throughout Astoria this year.

The vandal first struck on March 20 when he sprayed “Obama f—-t” on the outside of Pistilli Towers at 31-19 Newtown Ave., which is the office of State Sen. Michael Gianaris and Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas. He has struck that building multiple times.

He has also vandalized a number of garage doors on 23rd Street (between 28th and 29th Avenues) scrawling in black paint: “Obama Faggot” and “Obama Dyke.”

Deputy Inspector Peter Fortune, the commanding officer of the 114th Precinct, said recently that the suspect has struck more than a dozen times.

The suspect is white and was last seen wearing hooded jacket, and a baseball cap.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS
