Man steals tip jar from Chinese restaurant, threatens employee with baseball bat, police said

A man entered a Chinese restaurant in East Elmhurst Thursday and took off with the tip jar, police said.

The suspect walked into Chopsticks Restaurant, located at 77-18 21st Avenue, and removed the tip jar from the counter. As he was leaving, he threatened an employee with a baseball bat.

The man then fled the scene. The employee was not hurt.

The suspect is described as male Hispanic, approximately 18-years-old, 6’2″ tall, 200lbs., and last seen wearing gray sweatpants, gray and black sweatshirt and black sneakers.

The surveillance video of the individual was obtained from the above location and is attached and available at DCPI.
