Suspect (NYPD)

March 28, 2017 Staff Report

Police released video this morning of one of the two suspects who allegedly robbed an elderly man at knife point inside his Astoria apartment building this weekend.

According to police, two men followed an 83-year-old man in to the elevator of his residential building near 21st Street and 36th Avenue on Saturday at 6:42 p.m.  Once the door closed, the first suspect showed the victim a knife and said “don’t make a sound,” while the second suspect removed the victim’s cellphone and $20 from his person.

Both suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The police released pictures of the alleged perpetrators Sunday.

The first suspect, who is depicted in this newly released video, is described as a bald black man with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing black sneakers, black jeans dark hooded shirt.

The second suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a light complexion (see photo), and was last seen wearing grey hooded jacket, skull cap, black backpack, black sneakers and blue jeans.

Police have released photos of both suspects and have now released a video of the first suspect.
