A popular Astoria restaurant has been shut down for the second time for allegedly failing to pay its taxes.
The New York Dog House at 37-06 30th Avenue was closed down by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance on February 15 for owing $168,323.88 in taxes, according to a representative for the department.
The restaurant has been in the cross-hairs of the department in recent months. It was closed down in October, owing the state $154,712 at the time, but was allow to reopen on November 23.
The restaurant, which specializes in gourmet hotdogs with toppings such as pineapple, avocado or chili paste and peanuts, has a notice posted by its owners on the front door notifying the public as to their woes.
The Dog House owners wrote on the poster that the restaurant has “yet again fallen to the unjust practices of the Department of State.”
The restaurant promised to update its social media accounts with developments on the case. “We will rise again,” the restaurant’s sign promised.

Do they have the same accountant as euromarket?
That’s why President Trump wants to help lower taxes and help small business grow , but many New Yorkers keep voting Democrats that will keep raising taxes!
There’s not enough information in Trump’s tax plan nor is there enough information regarding exactly what this business did to owe over $150k in taxes to come to the conclusion that you came to. Did they incorrectly take deductions ? Did they not take out taxes for their employees? I’m assuming they have an accountant . Did they deposit more money into the bank as cash then they reported and therefore got busted . Blaming the democrats for this business getting busted for not paying taxes is a bit silly .
Were will the protest march be? I will be more then happy to partake.
Total bs. Tax code is oppressive to small business owners.
