Mexico Blvd food truck finds permanent home on 36th Avenue

April 22, 2014 By Michael Florio

Ditmars’ well known Mexico Blvd food truck will be rolling into a permanent location on the other side of Astoria.

The owners of the truck are about to open a restaurant at 33-09 36th Ave.

“The restaurant will serve an extended menu [similar to the truck] and will operate under a different name,” said Jordi Loaeza, who co-owns the truck along with his parents.

The truck doesn’t have a particularly large menu, and is best known for tacos and tortas.

The truck has built a solid reputation among local residents–by combining authentic Mexican cuisine with an eye-catching truck and its social media presence.

Loaeza, who has lived in Astoria for four years, did not want to reveal the name of the restaurant until he gets closer to opening it. He hopes to open as soon as possible.

Once open, the truck, which spends weeknights at 31 St and Ditmars Blvd (btw. 5:30-8:30pm), will be taking a hiatus.

“We are going to stop the truck on Ditmars for a little bit once we have this,” Loaeza said.

“We will bring it back once we get everything at the restaurant all settled.”
