Police Release Video of Man Wanted for N-Train Subway Slashing

Jan. 9, 2018 By Tara Law

The police have released video of a “person of interest” who is wanted for questioning about a Jan. 4 subway slashing and assault in Astoria.

The suspect allegedly slashed a 59-year-old subway rider across the forehead and punched him in the head and face on the southbound N train around 10:50 p.m. last Thursday, police said.

The attack followed an argument the two men had as they got on the train at the Ditmars Boulevard subway station. The men continued to argue aboard the train, and the assailant started to punch the victim in the head and face.

The attacker then whipped out an unknown object and cut the victim’s forehead. The train pulled into the Astoria Boulevard subway station, and the assailant fled.

The person of interest is a black man in his mid to late 20s. He is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, a t-shirt and was carrying a military style backpack.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Crime will only be getting worse. It’s not getting better. They made a new shelter in east elmhurst , close to Astoria. He could be from there.

I hope they catch him. Hard to distinguish though through the video because so many people fit his description around Ditmars during the day and night lately. I live two blocks away and it quite scary what is happening to the neighborhood.
