YOU HAVE BEEN DUPED HOMELESS HOTEL COMING TO A NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR YOU!!! DEVELOPER WILL RUSH CONSTRUCTION TO RIDE THE DHS HOMELESS HOTEL WAREHOUSING WAVE AND MAKE THAT MONEY.. INSTEAD OF BUILDING REAL AFFORDABLE HOUSING THE CITY RATHER PAY ON AVERAGE $200 PER NIGHT TO HOUSE A HOMELESS PERSON THAN SUBSIDIZE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR THE WORKING POOR. WHY NOT BUILD 85 MICRO APARTMENTS RENT THEM FOR $500, $600 PER MONTH TO WORKING PROPERLY SCREENED PEOPLE? DEVELOPERS KNOW THEY CAN MAKE A MILLION OR MORE PER YEAR BY HAVING THE CITY LEASE THEIR HOTELS WITH OUR HARD EARNED TAX DOLLARS.

I’m always astounded by how someone would build a hotel a block away from the projects. Hopefully not a homeless shelter in waiting.

Simultaneously, the New York City Council passed laws that compounded these challenges, notably the elimination of punitive segregation in city jails and qualified immunity for police officers. These actions have collectively undermined public safety and constrained law enforcement effectiveness.

Apr. 11, 2024 By Allison Kridle

If you were to ask a Queens resident what’s one thing they want more of, they will likely reply: Space. For Astorians, many crave a place to gather, work, create, and meet neighbors or somewhere that feels like home where they can be productive all in one. Astoria business owners Anna Budinger, Alexandra Wolkoff and Kayli Kunkel saw this void and created Our House, “Astoria’s living room.”
