An off-duty NYPD traffic enforcement agent was arrested after an alleged argument with his wife in his Astoria home that turned violent on Wednesday night, police say.

Renato Gonsales Conegundes, 30, was arrested around 8:05 p.m. on Dec. 26 and faces assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment charges, court records show.

An NYPD spokesperson said Gonsales Conegundes’ wife went into the bathroom at one point in the dispute when he pushed the door open, which struck her face.

The incident took place on 41st Street, with police refusing to give more detailed information on the location.

Gonsales Conegundes’ top charge is of assault with intent to cause physical injury, with other charges including criminal possession of a weapon to the fourth degree and harassment to the second degree.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Queens Criminal Court today.

He was a traffic enforcement …not a police officer. They write tickets and direct traffic with a whistle and white gloves
