A new yoga and wellness studio that opened at 30-05 35th St in March has released a lineup of workshops that will be open to the public this summer.
The studio, called “Happie House,” which emphasizes inclusivity and empowerment through meditation, yoga and nutrition consulting, was founded by Lisa Samuels, a registered dietitian and certified yoga instructor.
This Saturday, June 30 is a workshop conducted by Natalia Rodriguez titled “Candle-Lighting, Mandala & Meditation.”
Rodriguez, founder of the health and wellness website “Higher Waves,” will lead a class on how to use “intention, creativity and meditation…to still minds and reset energy.”
The 90-minute session will include candle-lighting, instructions on how to design a spiritual symbol known as a mandala, and meditation for beginners and the experienced alike. Registration is available at this link.
On the last Sunday of every month, a sleep-type meditation known as “Yoga Nidra” is made available for those with tension, stress, anxiety or general restlessness. This type of meditation is also known to help people feel as though they have received a full night’s sleep in a single session. Registration for this workshop can be made by e-mailing Happie House at [email protected]
The studio also offers a community potluck dinner at its 35th Street location between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. on the last Friday of every month.
“It’s free, and we just want people to show up and share more about themselves,” Samuels said. “It’s a way for people to connect who may not otherwise get to meet and get together.”
She said the potluck is more social in nature and is intended for members of the community to get to know each other on a more personal level.
The dinner is typically attended by between 15 and 20 individuals, and includes BYOB.
Besides the program-oriented workshops, Happie House also hosts about 23 yoga classes each week, including restorative, vinyasa, mommy & me and express yoga sessions for those looking to sneak in a class during lunch time.
Each of these sessions are capped at 14 participants.
An introductory rate of $30 for 30 days of unlimited yoga includes a 30 minute nutrition consultation for those wish to lose weight or develop healthier eating habits.
