UberEats enters into Queens, targets Astoria, LIC and Sunnyside

A popular ride sharing service will now also deliver food directly to your doorstep.

Uber announced this morning that it has expanded its UberEATS app in to Queens for the first time, covering Astoria, Long Island City, and Sunnyside.

The app has partnered with 30 local restaurants, and will deliver food ordered through the UberEATS app or on their website, expanding the reach of certain restaurants in to new neighborhoods.

The service is available from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. every day, and carries a $2.99 delivery fee, but similarly to the ridesharing service, tipping is not required and users can rate their experience after delivery.

In celebration of the expansion in to Queens, Uber is offering $15 off of the first order through the app until next Monday, using the code LETSEATQNS15.

A spokesperson for the company did not answer questions regarding the expected amount of use of the app in the area or future plans for expansion, but only referred to the FAQ page on the company website.

If Uber is taking a cut from the restaurants, then this will ultimately lead to higher prices. I’d rather pay the delivery guy directly.

They will deported once trump becomes President. No more slave wages so that lazy people now have to cook at home or go to the restaurant and eat.

People would riot if food was not delivered. It’s unconstitutional. NYC amended the US constitution to include the rite to have food delivered 24/7.

For the second time in four months, FDNY fire inspectors averted a potential catastrophe in East Elmhurst after finding stockpiles of illegally stored propane tanks in the residential neighborhood.

Fire inspectors from the Special Investigation Unit received a complaint of illegal occupancy at a home just south of LaGuardia Airport at 23-57 89th St. They discovered 68 propane cylinders, which they seized along with five food trucks and a box truck parked on the property last week. The number of grand larcenies across Queens was down during the 28-day period from March 18 to April 14, compared to the same period of time last year, according to the latest crime stats released by the NYPD Monday.
